Mein erster Trip nach China, auch wenn viele sagen Hong Kong (und Taiwan) ist ja China.... Das Übliche, Flug halt... Eindrucksvoller Flughafen für eine Stadt mit einer halben Mio. Einwohner... Hab dann am Flughafen direkt erstmal jmd kennen gelernt, der genau in das gleiche Hostel wollte, wie ich, also sind wir zwei dann gemeinsam aufgebrochen, mit dem Bus... Taxi kann ja jeder! Am Abend dann noch ein wenig den nächsten Tag geplant, bzw. die nächsten Tage...

My first REAL trip to China, even though a lot of people say that Hong Kong (and Taiwan) is Chinese as well... the normal stuff, flight... Impressive Airport for a city with half a million Inhabitants... directly at the airport, I met someone on the way to the same hostel than me, so we both went to the hostel, with the bus... everyone can take a Taxi... and made a schedule for the next day or better: the next days

Xiamen erkunden... ist schnell getan, gibt nicht viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, abgesehen von ein paar kleineren Dingen und einer kleinen Insel die komplett Auto frei ist (wenn man mal von Elektroautos zum Transport von Touristen absieht...) und eigentlich auch ganz schön war. Also war unser erster Spot ein Tempel, der auch relativ groß war und sich sehr hoch hinaus in den Berg erstreckte (sind auf knapp über 200m geklettert... ganz schön anstrengend mit fast 10kg Gewicht auf dem Rücken).

Exploring Xiamen... is done in short time, because there aren't that much Sights... except of a few smaller things and a car-free Island (if you ignore the electro cars... for tourist transportation) which was beautiful... Our first spot was the temple, which was built close to a mountain... which we climbed (we went up to ~200 meters... which is hard if you carry nearly 10kg on your back...)

Danach wieder runter gegangen (ging vieeelll schneller... komisch) und ein bisschen durch die Gegend geschlendert, wo dann der Kollege mit dem ich unterwegs war auch direkt mal ein wenig Basketball mit ein paar Lokals gespielt hat

Afterwards headed downwards again (verrrryyy fast... surprise) and walked a bit around in the area... until my fellow traveler stared to play basketball with some locals

wobei er sich leicht am Fuß verletzt hat (wer mit Latschen spielt...), worauf hin wir dann wieder zurück zum Hostel gegangen sind... erste Hilfe war angebracht ;). Danach haben wir uns nach einer kurzen Pause auf den Weg zu besagter Insel gemacht und an der Bushaltestelle direkt wieder jmd aufgegabelt. Also den Hafen gesucht und übergesetzt, was recht flott ging. Wir (Siehe Bild + Ich) sind dann ein wenig auf der Insel umher gegangen, haben einen Strand gefunden...

where he got injured at his feet (if you play with open shoes...), so we headed back to the Hostel... for first aid ;). Later after a short break we left to go to the Island, where we met someone else... more or less on the same way :) We went to the harbor to catch a ship to the island. We walked a bit around on the island and found a beach...

...und haben gewartet bis die Sonne untergegangen ist, bevor wir uns wieder auf den weg zum Festland gemacht haben (nachdem ich ein paar Fotos geschossen habe, unter anderem von der Xiamen Skyline... halbe Mio. Einwohner!)

Auf dem Festland angekommen haben wir uns dann erstmal was zu essen gesucht und sind ein wenig durch die Einkaufsstraße geschlendert, wo das chinesische Image wieder einmal sehr schnell bestätigt wurde.

Später haben wir uns dann noch aufgemacht und Helen (Enfeng) nach hause gebracht, weil die am anderen Ende der Stadt wohnte, in einem ziemlich abgelegenen Hostel...

Later we helped Helen (Enfeng) to find her way back home, because she was living in a Hostel on the other end of the city... in a somewhat Rural area...

Am nächsten Tag hab ich mich dann auf die Reise gemacht... ohne genau zu wissen, wohin eigentlich und habe ein wenig auf mein Glück vertraut...was ich dann auch hatte, aber dem ganzen Abenteuer habe ich einen eigenen Post gewidmet klick hier

Am Sonntag Abend hatte ich mein Abenteuer dann beendet, sprich bin wieder in Xiamen angekommen und hab mich am Montag noch mit Helen auf den Weg gemacht, ein paar andere Seiten von Xiamen zu erkunden. Wir haben uns am Strand getroffen, wo es einige Skulpturen zu sehen gab... unter anderem eine, die den Ruf der Mutter nach dem Kind entspricht (wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe) und von China an Taiwan gerichtet ist...

Sunday evening: I arrived back to Xiamen and met with Helen again. We planned to meet the next day on the beach in another part of Xiamen, where there were a few sculptures... i.e. one which is about a mother calling for her child to come back (if I got it right)... China and Taiwan...

Danach haben wir dann noch die Uni erkundet, die auch sehr schön ist...

Das Abenteuer beginnt.... Ich wollte mir von Xiamen aus die Hakka Rundhäuser angucken, also habe ich im Hostel nachgefragt, wie man da hin kommt. „Von dem und dem Busterminal bis zu der und der Station.“ Also hab ich mich auf gemacht und bin in den Bus gestiegen, was nicht so das Problem war... Nach ca. 2 Stunden haben wir dann eine Pause gemacht, und nach der Pause dachte ich kann die Tour weitergehen... Habe mich also wieder in den Bus gesetzt und nach ein Paar Minuten kam die Busbegleiterin zu mir, und versuchte mir etwas auf Chinesisch zu erklären.. was ich allerdings nicht verstand... nach einigen Minuten auf mich einreden lassen und mit zu Hilfename des Busfahrers (den ich genau so wenig verstand) hat sich dann die Lady neben mir dazu durch gerungen mit mir ein wenig Englisch zu reden, um mir das Problem zu erklären.. Das Ticket war nur bis zu der Haltestelle gültig an der wir gerade waren, wenn ich weiterfahren wollte, müsse ich ein Neues Ticket kaufen (hatte mich schon gewundert, weil mir gesagt wurde, dass die Fahrt ca. 3,5 Stunden dauern sollte)... gesagt getan....

Let the adventure begin... I planned to visit the Hakka Roundhouses, so I asked the hostelstaff, how to go there. “from this and this busterminal to this and this station”. So I went to the busterminal and entered the bus, no problems so far... after approx. 2 hrs we had a break, and after the break, I entered the bus again, but the bus attendant tried to tell me something in chinese... which I didn't understood at all... after some time, the busdriver joined this conversation as well and I understood nothing again... even the writing down didn't help... what a surprise! After a few minutes the lady next to me decided that she is capable of explaining me the problem. The busticket I bought was only until this stop, but my destination was approx. 90 minutes later, so I need to buy a new ticket, which I did...

Nach weiteren 90 Minuten fahrt, stieg dann plötzlich der Busfahrer aus und die Lady neben mir sagte, ich solle ihr folgen... Habe ich dann auch getan und wir waren ziemlich genau da, wo ich hin wollte. Ich bin dann ins Hotel direkt um die Ecke gegangen und habe mir ein Zimmer ausgesucht...

After approx. 90 minutes, the busdriver left the bus, and the lady next to me advised me to follow her... which I did and I was there where I planned to arrive. I went to the Hotel next to the busstation and took a room there...

Danach sind wir dann die Gegend erkunden gegangen, die sehr abgeschieden lag und genau so schön war... Es wurde sehr viel Tee angebaut und die Leute lebten sehr... traditionell... Nach einiger Zeit sind wir dann wieder zurück zum Hotel gegangen und haben dort zu Abend gegessen... Frisches Huhn (ich hörte es noch, als wir weggingen) und diverse Beilagen. Im Anschluss daran wurde ich dann noch zum Tee eingeladen, von der jungen Lady ;) und habe dort dann noch einen Japaner kennen gelernt, der sich schriftlich mit den Leuten verständigen... hatte mir gegenüber wesentlichen Vorteil... und wurde direkt als “Übersetzer“ missbraucht ;)...

Afterwards we explored the area around, which was really far away from the rest of the world, but really beautiful... The local people planted a lot of tea in this area and lived a very traditional way of life... After some time, we went back to the Hotel, where we had dinner... fresh chicken (I heard it, before we left...). Afterwards I was invited for tea and met a Japanese guy there, which was capable of communicating with the people by writing it down... a huge advantage... so he was partly used as a translator.

später sind wir dann noch zu den Hot Springs gefahren (für die Unwissenden... Ich würde es als Badewanne mit zu wenig Wasser und einer zu großen Kaffeetasse bezeichnen...), wo wir uns dann einige Zeit aufhielten, bevor wir zurück zum Hotel gefahren sind, um dort zu nächtigen (jedoch erst nachdem ich dem Busfahrer... der anscheinend Teilhaber vom Hotel war... das Geld für Hotel und Spesen gegeben hatte.

Am nächsten Tag haben wir (Lady und ich) uns dann mittels Motorradtaxi (hätte nie gedacht, dass ich so etwas mal nutze...) auf den weg zu der Haupt Touristenattraktion in der Gegend gemacht: Fujian Tulou. Ein Dorf in dem die Hakkas leben und dort auch ihre Häuser haben... mitten im Nirgendwo...gibt nicht sooo viel da drüber zu erzählen, mehr zu zeigen. Ich habe jedoch einige neue und nette Leute kennen gelernt, die unheimlich zuvorkommend waren (so hab ich z.b. beim Mittagessen eine bestimmte Kartoffelart (blaue?) sehr genossen... daraufhin wurden mir nach dem Essen die Restlichen ungefragt eingepackt, von einer der Mitreisenden...)... und ich war natürlich auch wieder eine „kleine“ Attraktion und bin auf vielen Fotos zu sehen... nur kaum auf meinen, wie immer!

Next day: we took a motorbike taxi to the main tourist attraction in this area: Fujian Tulou. A village in which the Hakkas live and have a few buildings there as well.... not so much to talk about, but to show. I met a lot of really nice people there, who were really courteous (i.e. I had some special potatoes for lunch, which I liked a lot... after lunch one of the people out of our tourist group packed the rest of the potatoes into a bag and gave them to me....) And I was a “small” attraction as well, like always... you will find me on a lot of pictures, except pictures I took, as always!

Donnerstag ging es mal wieder los, Richtung weit weit weg. Dieses mal: Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), auch bekannt als Saigon. Das selbe Spiel wie immer, zum Flughafen, in den Flieger, fliegen, von “Taxi Fahrern” bequatschen lassen, mitbekommen, was definitiv zu viel ist, in ein ordentliches Taxi steigen. Dieses mal hat der Taxifahrer dann auf der Fahrt auch noch die örtliche Polizei bestochen...(und wollte das Geld danach von mir haben... eine Minute doof stellen kann einem schon Geld sparen). Der Verkehr auf den Straßen in HCMC ist einfach nur langsam und träge! Dagegen ist ne deutsche 30er Zone noch schnell! Ergo hat es eine (gefühlte) Ewigkeit (ca. 30 Minuten fuer 7km) gedauert, bis ich am Hostel angekommen bin. Im Hostel angekommen: Kein Einzelzimmer mehr frei, also hab ich ein Doppelzimmer bekommen zum preis eines Einzelzimmers, auch nicht schlecht. Nett ausgestattet, von Duschbad über Kabel-TV und Kühlschrank war alles dabei. Klima und Ventilator sind hier ja selbstverständlich

Thursday evening it was time again to leave Hong Kong for a while. This time: Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), also known as Saigon. The same stuff as always, to the airport, into the plane, fly, get into a conversation with “taxi” drivers, find out what is way to much, get a regular taxi. This time, the Taxi driver paid a bribe to the local police (and asked me to pay him this bribe after the trip... play the idiot for a minute can save you some money!). The traffic in HCMC was very very slow! So it took a while until I arrived at my hostel (approx. 30 minutes for a 7km ride). As I arrived at the hostel, I was informed that they have no single room available... so I got a double for the same price, not bad either. Nice interior, shower, bathroom, cable tv, fridge etc. AirCon and Ventilator is there a necessity.

Tag eins: Ein wenig HCMC erkundet, Kriegsmuseum, mit vielen Kaputten Amerikanischen Armeefahrzeugen/-flugzeugen etc. Hier scheint man sehr stolz darauf zu sein, so viel kaputt gemacht zu haben...

Day one: I explored HCMC a bit, war museum, with a lot of destroyed US military vehicles. Seems to be the case that the local people are very proud about the fact that they destroyed a lot of stuff....

auf der anderen Seite, haben die Amis auch richtig viel scheiße gemacht! (Desto mehr Zeit ich in Asien verbringe, desto mehr fange ich an drüber nachzudenken, ob das was im Zweiten Weltkrieg passiert ist wirklich so schlimm war, im Internationalen Vergleich....Ich sag nur Agent Orange, Maos art sein Volk zu behandeln, die lustigen Russen etc.)

Bin dann im Laufe des Tages noch ein wenig durch HCMC gegangen und abends noch in den Lokalen Markt, der leider viel zu sehr auf touris ausgelegt ist...

During the day, I walked a bit trough HCMC and went to the local market in the evening, which is more or less focused on tourists...

am nächsten Tag hab ich mich auf den Weg gemacht, mal ein wenig was das Mekong Delta zu erkunden... Ergo morgens früh aufgestanden, eine Ewigkeit gewartet bis der Bus kommt (wir sind ja nicht bei den pünktlichen Deutschen..) um dann für eine lange Zeit in einem für mich viel zu kleinen Bus zu sitzen mit einer Reisegruppe von Russen und ein paar gemischten Leuten (Russische Touristen sind die Hölle!) Nach einer weile sind wir dann zu einem Orchideen Garten gekommen, der total ab vom Schuss war und auch gar nicht so interessant, aber war ganz gut sich mal ein wenig zu bewegen..

The next day, I went to the Mekong Delta... got up early, waited a long time until the bus arrived and hat to travel quite some time in a (for me) way too small bus, with a Russian tourist group and some others (I hate Russian tourists!). After some time, we arrived at a orchid garden, totally of track and not really interesting, but a good chance to move a bit...

Danach ging es weiter zum Mekong wo wir dann auf ein Boot umgestiegen sind, um auf eine kleine Insel zu kommen, wo wir dann Tee mit Honig getrunken haben. Der Honig wurde von den örtlichen Bienen gesammelt... mag ja eine Attraktion für so manche sein... Danach ging es weiter zu einer kleinen Hütte, in der wir dann ein paar lokale Früchte probieren durften und dazu mit lokaler Musik unterhalten wurden

Afterwards we continued our journey to the Mekong, where we switched to a boat, to go to a small island, where we had tea with honey. The honey was collected from local bees... might be an attraction for some people... Afterwards we went to a small place where we had local fruits and some local music

nächster Spot war dann ein Nebenarm des Mekong, in dem wir mit kleinen Booten durch die Gegend gefahren sind um zu einer Kokosnuss Suesswaren “Fabrik” zu kommen

next stop was a small river of the Mekong, where we had to travel with small boats.. to a coconut sweet “fabric”

Danach ging es noch ein wenig weiter auf die Insel um dort ein Mittagessen zu sich zu nehmen, bevor es wieder zurück nach HCMC geht. Sehenswert waren dort zwei Dinge: der Ochse und der Kokosnuss Friedhof

Am Sonntag dann ging es erst zu einem Geschäft in dem Produkte verkauft wurden, die von Agent Orange opfern angefertigt wurden, danach zum Cao Dai Tempel und danach zum Cu Chi Tunnelsystem in dem die Vietcong gekämpft habenenen(diesmal mit einer Rentnerreisegruppe aus Hong Kong, sehr nette Leute). Hier zwei Beispiele was dort hergestellt wurde . Wunderbare Sachen und es wurde sehr viel mit Eierschale gearbeitet (ja, die Farben sind helle und dunkle Eierschalen)

Sunday: next tours, starts at a store, where you can buy products made from handicapped (Agent Orange...) people, afterwards the Cao Dai Temple and the Cu Chi Tunnels, where the Viet Cong fought during the Vietnam war (this time, the travel group was more or less a Hong Kong based group of retired people...very nice!). Two examples of what was produced there.. Wonderful stuff... and they used a lot of eggshell (yes, the colors are different eggshells... except the black..)

Danach ging es weiter zum Cao Dai Tempel. Dies ist ein Tempel einer Religion, die eigentlich eine Mischung aus Buddhismus, taoismus und Katholizismus ist (die drei Farben stehen für die drei verschiedenen Religionen). Wir haben uns dann dort eine Messe an zugucken.

Jakarta: Arm, Schmutzig, Reich, Sauber... je nachdem wo man ist... im Norden die Slums, mit Unmengen an Leuten die mehr oder weniger auf der Strasse leben, Fortbewegung via Motorrad oder Bus, im Sueden die Louis Vuitton shopping malls, das Grand Hyatt etc, mit Mercedes S-Klasse Taxis......wenige Sehenswuerdigkeiten, aber unheimlich nette und freundliche Leute...und angeblich eine hohe Kriminalitaet...

Jakarta: Poor, Dirty, Rich, Clean... depends on where you are... Slums in the North, a lot of people more or less living on the streets, transportation via motorcycle or bus, Luxury shopping malls in the south, exclusive hotels, Mercedes S-class cabs... Not so much sights, but very nice and friendly people... and a reportedly high crime rate...

Flug ging Freitagnachmittag, mit China Airlines. Gutes Onboard Entertainment-Programm, also hab ich mir Twilight (auf Deutsch!) angeguckt. Warum schaffen es eigentlich alle Airlines in Asien guten Service, mit hohem Komfort und einem angenehmen Flight-Entertainment System anzubieten... und in Europa ist so was unbekannt... selbst bei Lufthansa hatte ich Auswahl... zwischen Deutscher, Englischer und ich glaub noch einer weiteren Tonspur fuer 2 (!!) fest vorgeschriebene Filme (und das auf einem Langstreckenflug!). Angekommen bin ich am Freitagabend, hab erstmal ein Visa on Demand geholt, kostet 10USD (gut das ich in HK 30USD eingetauscht hatte...bei den Kursen) und ist fuer viele Nationalitaeten verfuegbar...

My flight left on Friday afternoon, with China Airlines. Good onboard entertainment program, so I watched Twilight (in German). Why does every Airline in Asia have good service, high comfort and a good onboard flight entertainment system... and in Europe this is more or less unknown? Even with Lufthansa I had choices.... between German, English and another language as audio track for 2(!!) fixed movies (and this on a long distance flight...). I arrived Friday evening, bought a Visa on Demand, which costs about 10 USD (good that I exchanged 30 USD in HK... If I look at the exchange rates..) and is available for a lot of nationalities...

Germany steht zwar nicht direkt auf der Liste, aber immerhin bekommt man fuer Deutschland eins... zum Glueck haben die meinen deutschen Pass anerkannt :). Warum auch immer Polen und Deutschland in “Muttersprache” draufsteht ist mir zwar unklar, aber da hat sich wohl irgendwer was bei gedacht...oder auch net. Nach der Abfertigung hab ich mich dann erstmal auf den Weg gemacht und ein Taxi gesucht. Nachdem der erste “Taxifahrer” (Privatmann, siehe Bangkok) mich direkt angequatscht hat und mehr als das 3fache haben wollte und nach verhandeln immer noch weit mehr als ueblich haben wollte, hab ich mir dann ein richtiges Taxi genommen... Fazit: Leute die dich am Flughafen ansprechen ob du ein Taxi brauchst, sind meistens keine Taxifahrer!

(there is a typo... it's Deutschland and not Deutchland), but they accepted my German passport. I have no clue why Poland and Germany are both translated into the corresponding language... but someone might have thought about this... or not... After Immigration, I searched for a Taxi... after the first “Taxi driver” (private person, see Bangkok) asked me directly, if I needed a taxi... and asked for more than three times the normal price...and after some bargaining still way more than the normal price... So I took a real Taxi... Conclusion: People asking you if you need a taxi, are rarely taxi driver!

Da ich kein Hostel gebucht hatte, hab ich mich dann erstmal auf den Weg gemacht, in die “Hostel Hauptstrasse” um mir dort fuer umgerechnet 4,5EURO pro Nacht ein ZIMMER zu mieten... (inklusive Doppelbett). Die Sauberkeit entsprach zwar auch dem Preis, aber wir sind ja in Jakarta und nicht in einer sauberen Stadt... Also habe ich mich den Rest des Abends damit beschaeftigt, mir die Routenplanung vor zu nehmen... was schnell erledigt war... und die Frage kam auf: was mache ich Sonntag?

I booked no hostel in advance, so I went to the main Hostel area in Jakarta and found a ROOM there for around 4,5EURO (~45HKD) per night (including a double bed). The cleanliness was corresponding to the price, but I was in Jakarta and not in a clean city...So I used the rest of the evening to schedule my stay... which was done quite fast... and I had no clue what to do on Sunday.

Samstag bin ich dann erstmal Richtung Norden aufgebrochen, bzw. habe versucht aus dem OEPNV System schlau zu werden... Festgestellt habe ich, dass das Bussystem fuer Jakarta relativ gut durchdacht ist... Nebenbei hab ich mir noch das National Monument angeguckt und was gefruehstueckt.

Saturday I went to the north of Jakarta, or have tried to find out how the public transportation system works.... I realized that the public bus system is pretty well organized, compared to the rest of Jakarta. On my way to realize this, I went to the National Monument and had breakfast.

Das Transjakarta Bussystem: Feste und abgetrennte Busspuren und Haltestationen mittig zwischen den 2 Fahrbahnen, um das Ein- und Aussteigen auf erhoehtem Niveau (Die Tueren waren auf ca 1,2m hoehe angebracht) zu ermoeglichen. Im Norden angekommen (der Stadtteil heisst treffender Weise Kota) gab es einen Grossen Marktplatz, auf dem viel Unterhaltungsprogramm lief, mit ein paar netten Gebaeuden...

The Transjakarta bus system: fixed and separated bus lanes and bus stops in between the two directions, to allow passengers to enter or leave the bus on an above ground level (the entrance/exit is around 1,2m above ground). In the north of Jakarta (Kota fittingly) there was a huge market place, where there was a lot of entertainment and a few nice buildings...

Weiter ging es in Richtung Norden, um mir den grössten Segelhandelsschiffhafen der Welt anzuschauen... ob das gut oder schlecht ist, kann jeder fuer sich selbst entscheiden... Verschifft wurde groesstenteils Baumaterial (Holz, Zement...) was von Hand verladen wurde.

Further in the north, there was the largest sailing-ship-trading-harbor in the world... if this is good or not, is your choice... they shipped mostly construction material (wood, concrete), which was loaded by pure men power

Naechster Stop waren Sehenswuerdigkeiten etwas weiter im Westen... nachdem ich jedoch festgestellt habe, dass ich dafuer... laaanngeee durch die Slums laufen musste, habe ich mich entschlossen, mich auf den weg zu machen und eine City Mug zu suchen... Nach langer Recherche auf dem o.g. Marktplatz und dutzenden „Sorry Sir, can we take a picture with you“ (nach „Hello Mister“ der hauefigste Satz...) fand ich dann heraus, dass ich in den wohlhabenderen Sueden muss.... Also Bushaltestelle gesucht, eingestiegen, in einer Luxus Mall den oertlichen Baecker aufgesucht und leckere Sachen eingekauft (mjam!) um mich anschliessend in den Starbucks zu setzen und dort einen Tee zu trinken.

Next stop: the sights a bit further in the west... after I realized that I had to walk.... through the slums for a long time, I decided to go back and try to find a City Mug.... After a long research on the above mentioned market place and a lot of “Sorry Sir, can we take a picture with you” (my most heard sentence after “Hello Mister”), I realized that I had to go to the south... went to the next bus stop, took a bus... arrived at a luxury shopping mall, bought some stuff at the local bakery (yummy!) and had a tea @Starbucks afterwards.

Sonntag: noch weiter im Sueden sollte es eine grossartige „Fressmeile“ geben, die ich aufsuchen wollte. Also wieder auf den Weg Richtung Bus gemacht, gen Sueden gefahren und nen Stueck zu Fuss gelaufen... in der Fressmeile angekommen und festgestellt, dass ich hier falsch bin, oder dass man hier die paar Restaurants als „great variety of food“ ansieht (Pontstrasse ist riesig dagegen)... Zu Mittag gegessen, auf den Heimweg gemacht, in Kino gegangen um Seven Pounds (Sieben Leben) zu gucken... der Normale Eintritt war... ca. 1,6EURO... Ich hab nicht mal nach Ermaessigung gefragt, Studi waere glaub ich 1 EURO gewesen... aber das war es mir dann auch wert. Grossartiger (und trauriger) Film, schaut ihn euch an!

Sunday: I went further into the south, because there should be a huge street with a lot of restaurants...Bus again, southwards this time, walked a bit... arrived at the street and was a bit disappointed... Had Lunch, went back to the hostel, went to the cinema... Seven Pounds... admission fee was around 1,6EURO (~16HKD)... I haven't asked for a student discount, which was available... with the discount it would have been only 1 EURO (~10HKD)... Great movie! Go and watch it!

Montag frueh war Abreise angesagt, Um 4 Uhr aufgestanden, Taxi gesucht, zum Flughafen gefahren und nun sitze ich im Flugzeug. (Warum muss man eigentlich an jedem „Armes Land“ Flughafen nochmal extra Steuern und Gebuehren zahlen, die eigentlich schon in dem Ticket mit einbezogen sein sollten?)

Monday morning... time to depart... got up at 4, searched for a cab, went to the airport and currently I'm sitting in the plane. (Why do you have to pay additional taxes and fees in every “poor” country? These should be included in the ticket price...)

Donnerstag Abend ging es los nach Bangkok, fuer ein Wochenende, mal wieder. Bin mit Emirates geflogen, die haben nicht nur Super essen, sondern auch ein Super Unterhaltungsprogramm. Also hab ich mir The Dark Knight auf deutsch angeguckt :) nur einer von ca 60 aktuellen Filmen, die man sich im Flugzeug anschauen kann. (Leider hab ich den Film nicht zu Ende bekommen, da sooo viel Blabla von Captain und Crew durchgesendet wurde, dass mir am Ende ca 20 Minuten fehlten.). Am Flughafen in Bangkok dann, tat ich wie geheißen und bin auf das Departure deck gegangen, um mir ein Taxi zu suchen. Frei nach dem Motto: lass dich von niemandem anquatschen, sondern quatsch die Leute an, das ist sicherer und meistens auch billiger. Leider bin ich dem nicht so ganz gefolgt, ergo hatten mich einige Leute angequatscht, ob ich nicht ein Taxi brauche, wobei ich dann letztendlich in einem Privattaxi mitgefahren bin, nachdem einer der Flughafenangestellten gesagt hat, dass dies ein "glaubwuerdiges Taxi" sei... Ergo bin ich bei einem Privatmann mitgefahren, der sich noch ein wenig Geld dazu verdienen wollte und der Flughafenangestellte hatte danach ein paar Baht mehr in der Tasche... (hat mich im Endeffekt vermutlich ein bisschen weniger gekostet, aber ganz wohl war mir dann doch nicht dabei).

Thursday evening, my plane departed to Bangkok, where I stayed for a weekend. I flew with Emirates. They serve excellent food and have an excellent entertainment program, so I watched The Dark Knight during my flight. Unfortunately the Captain and Crew had so much stuff to tell that I was unable to finish the movie. At Bangkok Airport, I did what was recommended and went to the Departures area, to catch a Taxi there. There were a lot of people running around and searching for tourists, to rip off and thus I tried to catch a Taxi, which dropped someone. This was not successful and I got into a conversation with a local "Taxi" driver, and a person, working at the airport, who said that the "Taxi" driver is reliable etc. Finally, I realized that I was in a private (!!) car, from a person trying to earn a bit additional money during the weekend, and the person working at the airport got a few more baht in his pocket.... (Maybe that was a bit cheaper, but I felt a bit uncomfortable...)

Am naechsten Morgen hab ich mich dann ganz traditionell, wie es im Venedig des Ostens ueblich ist, mit dem Boot auf den Weg gemacht (ca 60 Einheimische und ein Tourist..) um mich ins Zentrum zu bewegen. Nachdem ich eine weile Bangkok zu Fuss erkundet hatte, hat mich dann ein Lehrer angequatscht, der mir dann auch direkt mitgeteilt hat, dass die Tempel alle mit Oeffnungszeiten versehen sind und es sich nicht mehr lohnt da noch hinzugehen. Er hat mir dann auch direkt ne alternative Route vorgeschlagen, nen TukTuk organisiert und mir klar gemacht, dass er mir nicht glaubt, dass ich aus Hong Kong komme.... Mit dem TukTuk bin ich dann erst einmal diverse Touristisch eher unbekannte Attraktionen abgefahren um dann im Endeffekt in diversen Juwelier und Schneidergeschaeften anzukommen, damit der Fahrer Spritgutscheine bekommt (jeweils 5 Liter, sprich je ca 2,5Euro). Das haben wir dann 3 mal gemacht, bevor ich mich absetzen liess, ohne irgendwas zu bezahlen. Er hat ja immerhin 15l Sprit bekommen durch mich und lustig war es auch.

The next morning, I took a very traditional, as it is normal in the venice of the east, boat to move to the city centre (around 60 local people and 1 tourist..). After I explored Bangkok a bit as a pedestrian, a teacher initiated contact and told me that the sights I wanted to go to were closing soon and gave me an alternative route. He also organized a TukTuk and arranged a good price, after he told me that he didn’t believe that I'm from Hong Kong.... Within the first hour or so, I explored a few not that well know sights with the TukTuk, to end up in a few jeweler and tailor shops, because the driver gets Gasoline Coupons, when he brings tourists to these stores (5 liters each). After three of these stops, I decided that to go my own way, after paying nothing for the trip, he has obtained coupons for 15 liters of gasoline and it was also funny!

Am Abend bin ich dann noch durch den Park geschlendert um zu einem Grossen Nachtmarkt zu kommen, auf dem es allerlei Markenprodukte gab (deren Echtheit....), einen Essenstand, mit Tanzshow etc. Hat mir allerdings nicht so zugesagt, darum bin ich weiter auf eigene Faust die Gegend erkunden gegangen, bis ich mich letztendlich in einem dunklen Wohnviertel wieder fand, wo ich teilweise durch die Kuechen/Wohnzimmer der Einheimischen spazierte (auch bekannt als Strasse). Abgesehen davon, dass die mich komisch angeguckten und ueber meine Irritation, dass die Strasse ploetzlich in einer Kueche endete, lachten und mir den Weg wiesen, ist jedoch nichts weiteres Spektatkulaeres passiert.

In the evening, I was walking through the park, to arrive at a huge night market, where you could by lots of brand products (fake...?), there were a lot of food stalls with a dance performance. I thought there might be something more interesting around and explored the area by walking around, thus I ended up in a dark living quarter, without streetlights, where I walked through the kitchen or living rooms... also known as streets. Except of a lot of people starring at me and some laughing about my irritation that the street ends in a kitchen, but they showed me the right direction. Nothing spectacular happened.

Am Samstag hab ich mich dann auf den Weg gemacht, mir die Attraktionen, die am Freitag geschlossen waren, anzugucken um im Endeffekt an der "Hauptattraktion" wieder ein paar Minuten zu spaet anzukommen. Auch musste ich feststellen, dass unheimlich viele TukTuk Fahrer und Taxifahrer versuchen die Touristen uebers Ohr zu hauen (Die Preise fangen auf einem mehr als doppelt so hohem Niveau an, als er fuer Einheimische ist). Selbst an den Tempeln stehen fast ueberall Eintrittskartenverkaeufer, obwohl man (bis auf eine Ausnahme) gar keine Eintrittskarten braucht! Im allgemeinen scheint man fuer alles Eintrittskarten zu brauchen, zumindest wenn man Tourist ist und den ganzen Schildern folge leistet. Zoo, Tempel etc. sind fuer Einheimische kostenlos. Allerdings musste ich auch feststellen, dass die Thais unglaublich hilfsbereit(auch wenn sie einen dann schon mal in die falsche Richtung schicken... gut dass ich Karte und Kompass nutzen kann) und froehlich sind. An den Essenstaenden, die ich auch gern und haeufig besucht habe, hab ich (meines Wissens nach) immer nur das gezahlt, was ein Einheimischer auch Zahlen wuerde, genau so bei Oeffentlichem Transport (Bus, Boot und Bahn). Im Anschluss an meine mehr oder weniger Erfolgreiche Tempelerkundungstour bin ich dann auf den (angeblich) groessten Wochenendmarkt gefahren, wo es auch wieder allerlei Markenartikel (Echtheit stark zu bezweifeln) und Essen gab. Fuer umgerechnet 2 oder 3 Euro hab ich mich durch so ziemlich alles durchprobiert, was mir optisch zusagte, jedoch mehr dazu in einem anderen Post.

Saturday I went out to visit the sights I haven't seen on Friday, to arrive at the main sights... a few minutes too late. I made the experience that a lot of TukTuk drivers and Taxi drivers tend to rip of the tourists (the starting price was more then twice the price a local should have paid). Even in the temples, there are a lot of possibilities to buy admission tickets, even though they are not required (except for one temple). In general it seems to be the case that you need an admission ticket for everything... If you are a tourist and do what the signs say. The zoo and temples are for free, for Thais. Furthermore, I realized that Thai people are extremely helpful (even though they send you sometimes in the wrong direction... good that I know how to work with a map and a compass) and funny. At the food stalls, I always paid the same prices as the locals (as far as I know), the same for public transportation (busses, boats and trains). After my more or less successful temple excursion, I went to the largest (supposed to be...) weekend market, where you can buy a lot of brand products (fakes...?!?) and food as well. For approximately 2 or 3 euros (20 or 30 HKD) I tried more or less everything, which I thought would be worth a try, more on food, will follow in a later post.

Am Sonntag hab ich mich dann relativ frueh auf den Weg gemacht, um den Tempel zu besichtigen, und danach nach Kanchanaburi zu fahren. Der Tempel war seine umgerechnet 9 Euro Eintritt definitiv NICHT wert, oder ich habe etwas entscheidendes uebersehen...Danach hab ich mir dann ein Taxi gerufen, versucht dem nicht Englisch sprechenden Fahrer klar zu machen, wo ich hin will, um dann zum Busterminal zu fahren, um dort in einen Bus umzusteigen, der nach Kanchanaburi faehrt. Auch am Busterminal war englisch eher eine Fremdsprache, also suchte ich mir dann den richtigen Schalter und kaufte mein Ticket, um danach in einen Bus einzusteigen, der 2 Stunde lang durch die Pampa fuhr, um dann in Kanchanaburi anzukommen. Kanchanaburi ist eigentlich nur fuer eine Sache bekannt: Die Bruecke am River Kwai und alles was dazu gehoert. Erster Stop von einem viel zu teuren Taxi (was ich mangels auswahlmoeglichkeiten genommen habe) war ein großer Friedhof, auf dem diverse Hollaender, Australier und Briten vergraben waren, die beim Bau der Eisenbahnlinie und der dazugehoerigen Bruecke umgekommen sind. Mein zweiter Stop war dann die Bruecke am River Kwai, die immer noch genutzt wird, trotz der Tatsache, dass dort Unmengen an Touristen rueber laufen. Habe mich dort dann auch einige Zeit aufgehalten, bevor ich mich auf den Weg zurueck zum Busterminal gemacht habe. Jedoch musste ich vorher erstmal ein Fortbewegungsmittel finden, was sich in der Gegend gar nicht so einfach gestaltet! Ergo bin ich ca 20 Minuten lang die Hauptstrasse entlanggelaufen, habe mich von Hunden anbellen und beissen (was bin ich froh, dass ich Boots trage) lassen, um dann letztendlich von einem Minibus mitgenommen zu werden. An der Busstation ist mir dann erstmal der Bus vor der Nase weggefahren, aber kein Problem, der naechste kam 20 Minuten spaeter, also hab ich mir auf dem Nachtmarkt den Bauch vollgeschlagen und bin dann wieder 2 Stunden Bus gefahren, bevor ich dann im Hostel angekommen bin.

Sunday I went (relatively early) to the last missing temple and afterwards to Kanchanaburi. The temple was not worth the admission fee (approx 9 Euros or 90HKD), or I missed something very important, I don't know.... Afterwards I took a taxi, where I tried to be sure that the taxi driver means the same place, I mean: the Southern Bus Terminal, from which the Bus to Kanachnaburi should depart. At the bus terminal, English was an unknown language and thus I searched for the correct ticket booth, to get my ticket and find my way to the bus. The bus drove right through the middle of nowhere for 2 hrs, before we arrived in Kanchanaburi. Kanchanaburi is more or less known because of one thing: The River Kwai Bride and everything associated with it. My first stop with a way to expensive taxi (insufficient supply...) was the cemetery where a lot of dead Dutch, British and Australians were buried, who died during the construction of the railway and the corresponding bridge. My second stop was the bridge itself, which is still in operation, even though a lot of tourists walk over the bridge.

Naechster Tag: Aufstehen, duschen, ATM suchen der meine Karte schluckt (und danach auch Geld ausgibt), Taxi nehmen, zum Flughafen fahren, und zurueck nach Hause.

Next day: get up, have a shower, search for an ATM which accepts my card (and gives me money afterwards), take a taxi to the airport, and back home.

Am Donnerstag abend bin ich in Taiwan oder genauer gesagt, Taipei angekommen und hab mich erstmal auf dem Weg zum Hostel gemacht (klasse Hostel uebrigens!). Dort herrschte eine sehr familiaere Atmosphaere und man hat direkt neue Leute kennen gelernt.
Am ersten Tag sind wir dann zu aller erst in den Yangmingshang National Park gefahren...

I arrived in Taiwan on Thursday evening ,or more specific, Taipei und directly went to my Hostel (nice one!). There was a very family like atmosphere! The first day, we went to the Yangmingshang National Park...

ein absoluter Reinfall, weil es teilweise sooo nebelig war, dass man kaum 100m sehen kann. Gute Aussicht ist anders!

Das ganze ist recht abgeschieden vom Rest der Welt und somit sehr naturbelassen. In dem Bus findet man sich als Nicht-Chinese nur schwer zu Recht, da alles (!!) auf Chinesisch (Mandarin) geschrieben ist. Dafuer reichen meine bescheidenen Kenntnisse dann doch nicht, darum folgte ich der Regel "steig da aus wo auch viele andere aussteigen, da muss ja etwas interessantes sein" (weswegen ich mich auf dem Rueckweg auch leicht... verirrt hatte...)

MaoKong is a bit seperated from everything, including civilization, so it's back to nature. It is a bit difficult to survive in the bus without knowledge of mandarin, because everything (!!) is written in mandarin characters. My knowledge of Mandarin was not sufficient for this, so I followed the rule: leave the bus where a lot of other people leave it... there should be something interesting (but this was the reason, why I lost track... a bit on my way back)

Am Abend habe ich mich mit Sascha getroffen, wir waren etwas essen und danach in dem Computershopping-Paradies schlechthin, wo ich mir auch erstmal ein neues Netbook gekauft habe (ASUS N10J), ein echtes Schnaeppchen

Am naechsten Morgen bin ich dann noch das CKS Memorial erkunden gewesen, und hab mir die naehere Umgebung angeschaut... u.a. das Nationaltheater etc.

Nach dem Lantau Island Trip, sind wir nun auf der zweiten Insel angekommen: Cheung Chau (wörtlich übersetzt: Lange Insel). Trotz der Tatsache das Cheung Chau eine kleineeee Insel ist... Cheung Chau ist ein überraschender Mix aus Hong Kongs modernen Einkaufsketten, z.b. Parkn' Shop (Supermarkt), aber auch einige der ältesten Fabriken in HK sind hier anzutreffen, z.b. ein Schlachthof und eine Eisfabrik.

Following the last Lantau Island Trip, here we've arrived at the second island: Cheung Chau (Literally meaning Long Island). Given that Cheung Chau is such a tiny, teeeeny island... it is a surprising mix of Hong Kong's most modern chain shops, ie. Parkn' shop (supermarket), as well as some of HK's oldest factories, ie. Slaughtering House and Ice Factory.

Der Tag hat mit Dimsims am Pier angefangen, ging weiter mit Dimsims auf der Insel, Knabbereien aus Malaysia, Sushi train bei zu Abend, und endete mit Popcorn im Kino. Lecker!

PS. The day began with dimsims at the Pier, dimsims in the island, snacks from malaysia, sushi train at night, and ended with popcorns at the cinema. Nice!

Wie alle anderen Inseln in HK, Cheung Chau ist auch ein Fischerdorf... das gute daran ist: hier stinkt der Fisch nicht... solang man sich von manchen dingen fern hält, wie Sonnengetrockneter Fisch. Selbiger wird sehr salzig und knusprig, nachdem er getrocknet ist.

Like all other islands in HK, Cheung Chau is but another fishing village... the thing about this island though, is that it does not smell much of fish......unless you go near stalls like this: fish sun-drying. They become very salty and crispy after they're sun dried.

Siehst du den Mann dort? Er zog sich selbst zurück an Land, von seinem Fischerboot aus, indem er sich an einem Seil entlang zog, was an beiden Seiten befestigt war. Sehr originell.

See the man over there? He was towing himself back to the "shore" from his fishing boat, by pulling along a string hung between the two sides. Very original.

Das ist die berühmte Cheung Bo Zai Höhle! Berühmt geworden ist sie, aufgrund der unglaublichen Legende hinter dem Dunklen Tunnel... Es war ein mal ein notorischer Pirat in HK, mit name CheungBoZai... Er stahl von Schiffen und versteckte all seine Schätze an diesem Ort.. bis sie gefunden wurden und er hingerichtet wurde.
Natürlich ist das alles eine Legende geworden... was übrig geblieben ist, ist diese Abenteuerliche Höhle, die viel von Touristen besucht wird. (Chris und seine Kamera waren ein wenig zu groß für diesen Ort... und die Dunkelheit half auch nicht)

This is the famous Cheung Bo Zai hole! What made it so famous, was the infamous legend behind this dark little tunnel.... Once upon a time there was an notorious pirate in HK named CheungBoZai....he used to steal from ships and hide all his treasures in this place..until it was found and he was executed.
Of course it has all become a legend now...what is left is this adventurous hole that tourists love. (Chris and his camera was a little too big for the place...and the darkness didnt help either.)

Am ende des engen Tunnels, nach einigen schichten Stein, fanden wir einen Sitzplatz. So sah es weit entfernt von Sicherheit aus (okay...ich überteibe. Zumindest hatten wir festen Grund auf dem wir sitzen konnten)

And out of the very narrow tunnel we found layer after layer of rocks, this was how it looked sitting on one of the rocks furthest from what safety was. (So...yeh, I'm being exaggerative here. At least we had solid ground to sit on.)

Mein erster Stop, nach einer Langen Busreise und neuen Bekanntschaften incl. Mittagessen, waren die Batu Caves, ein Indischer "versammlungsort", an dem eine Woche zuvor das groesste hinduistische Fest, ausserhalb Indiens, stattgefunden hat.

My first stop, after a long journey with the bus and getting to know new people incl. lunch, were the Batu Caves, a hinduistic place, where they held the largest hinduistic festival, outside of india.

Dort steht eine gut Versteckte Statue ;)

Ich glaube das eine war fritierter Fisch. Leider musste ich jedoch einen Teil davon an einen Affen abdruecken... Der war doch tatsaechlich so dreist und hat mir die Tuete zerrissen, sodass 70% meines essens sich auf dem Boden wiederfand... Hab ich dann auch dem Affen ueberlassen

Singapur... erster eindruck: Klasse Stadt!
Viel Gruen, viel leben, verschiedene Kulturen.
oder: Singapur = Hong Kong + Gruenflaechen + Multikulti - Menschenmassen - Luftverschmutzung

A lot of green areas, busy city, different cultures.

Da ich die Stadt groesstenteils zu Fuss erkundet habe, gibt es auch viele Bilder von dingen die ich Interessant fand, die aber nicht unbedingt im Reisefuehrer zu finden sind. z.b. gibt es interessante Architektur

Scheinbar gibt es hier Open Air vorstellungen direkt am Wasser. Ich vermute mal, dass die Veranstaltung dann auf einem Boot stattfindet. Im hintergrund, das "Singapur Eye" (keine Ahnung ob das wirklich so heisst, erinnerte mich nur stark an London)

Weil Touristen ja per definition faul sind, gibt es auch ein Fahrzeug was nix anderes tut als selbige von Strandteil A nach Strandteil B zu transportieren. Ab und zu geht es mal nach C, D, E oder F (oder so).

Tourists are lazy, by definition that's why there is a special bus, transporting tourists from beach A to beach B. Sometimes they might go to beach C, D, E or F (or something like that...)

ist es nicht wunderbar, vom Strand auf soooo viele Frachtschiffe zu gucken? Vielleicht sollte Singapur mal was mehr Geld in den Ausbau des Hafens stecken, anstatt auf Sentosa ein weiteres Ferienparadies zu bauen. Damit mehr Touristen kommen, die dann total begeistert von der Aussicht sind. Okay, der Strand selbst war schoen, aber die Aussicht war der Horror!
Aber zum Glueck gab es auf Sentosa noch ein paar andere dinge zu sehen. Ein wenig Natur

To attract more tourists, who are impressed about the overview. The beach itself was beautiful, but the overview was horrible!

Am naechsten Tag war ich im Zoo von Singapur. Dem ganzen werde ich jedoch einen eigenen Post widmen. Eines vorweg: Einer der schoensten Zoos, die ich bis dato gesehen habe! (auch wenn mir das gefangenhalten von Lebewesen zur belustigung von "hoeheren" Lebewesen nicht sooooo zusagt)

Dies ist der erste Gast Beitrag in meinem Blog (eng-->ger übersetzung hab ich gemacht):

Habe in meiner ersten Woche in HK ein paar freunde beim Koreanischen Barbecue dinner gefunden. Eine von denen war nett genug und ging mit mir auf die größte Insel in Hong Kong, für einen Tagesausflug - Lantau Island. Wir kamen auf die Insel mit der guten alten Cable Car und haben uns vor ort mit dem Bus fortbewegt. Unterwegs haben wir die verschiedenen Naschwerke getestet und verspeißt, die ich von den Philippinen mitgebracht habe.

Made some friends at a friend's Korean barbecue dinner during my first week to HK... one of them was friendly enough to take me out to the biggest outlying island in Hong Kong for a day trip - Lantau Island. We arrived on the island by cable car, and went around it by bus. On the way we tried the differnt cakes i bought from the Philippines..it was a great day out.

Oben, auf hohem Ross, sitzt Buddha... sieht friedlich aus oder? Der Budde ist ungefähr 70 mal so groß wie Chris... (nicht sicher :) )

Ein Baum in der Nähe des Buddha. Es war lustig, weil wenn man sich den Baum von oben anguckt, dann formen die Blätter einen Stern (Nachtrag von Chris: das ist hierzulande ein Weihnachtsbaum!!)

Am ende des Pfades der Weisheit, haben wir hölzerne Platten gefunden, mit weisen Buddistischen gravierungen.... Das Holz war in ausgezeichnetem zustand, keine Würmer oder sowas.

Reaching the end of the "Wisdom Path", we found wooden plates with wise Buddism writings carved on them.... the wood were kept in excellent condition, no worm bites or anything.

Das ist Tai O. Es war (und ist) ein Fischerdorf... Es ist größtenteils von Wasser umgeben und es riecht überall nach altem fisch.

This is Tai O. It used to be (and still is) a fishing village...It is very much surrounded by water, and smelt of stale fish everywhere.

Tai O ist bekannt dafür, dass die Häuser auf dem Wasser gebaut wurden, aus Zinnfolie und Holz. Dieses Design macht es den Fischern sehr einfach... sie können einfach in das Boot auf dem Balkon springen. Die kleinen Roten dinger, die dort hängen, sind segenswünsche, um glück zu haben, in tinte geschrieben.

One prominent feature of Tai O was that, houses were built on water, with mainly tin foil and wood. Its design make it very convenient for the fishermen...they can just hop on their fishing boats from the balcony. The Red little things hanging there were blessings of good fortune written in ink.

Manila, Philippinen

Ja, mein erster "richtiger" und chaotischer Trip ging in die Philippinen. Chaos weil kaum was organisiert, der Bus fuhr nicht von da ab, wo er abfahren sollte. Manila hatte ich für Touristisch attraktiver gehalten... Aber so kann man sich täuschen

My first "real" and chaotic trip was a trip to the Philippines. Chaos, because I hadn't organized it that well, the bus left somewhere... where I hadn't expected it to leave. I expected Manila to be more attractive, from a touristic perspective... Everyone can be wrong

Angekommen bin ich im Hostel...

...um ca 0:30 und hab mich deswegen auch erstmal schnell ins Bett gelegt. Am nächsten Tag ging das Abenteuer auch schon los: Die "Reise" in die Innenstadt von Manila.
Zu allererst ging es mit einem Jeepney...

In der Stadt selbst gibt es nicht sooo viel zu sehen. Das erste was mir über den Weg gelaufen ist, war ein Monument zu ehren der Katipunan (KKK)

Danach ging es weiter Richtung Intramuros, quasi die "Altstadt von Manila" mit Kanonen...

... deren Existenz jedoch schnell aufgeklärt wird!

... und zum Schluss wird die Frage beantwortet, die sich jeder bestimmt (okay, ist gelogen) schon mal gestellt hat: "Was passiert eigentlich mit den alten Mülleimern an Bahnhöfen?" (Sorry wegen der Qualität, die Sicherheitskräfte waren schon unterwegs)

Fazit: Manila ist nen Besuch wert, allerdings sollte man nicht mehr als einen Tag einplanen.
In den Philippinen kann man viel mehr sehen als nur Manila, aber ich vermute die interessantesten dinge sind immer noch Strände.
Sextourismus und "Frauenkauf" ist immer noch sehr gebräuchlich dort
In den ärmeren Gegenden trau selbst ich mich nicht, Fotos zu machen.
Fürs nächste mal: ein wenig mehr im Vorraus planen und früher aufstehen, kontakt mit der Lokalen Küche nicht scheuen

To sum it up: Manila is worth a visit, but not for more than one day.
You can see a lot more in the Philippines, but I guess most is about beaches.
Sextourism and "finding partners" is still popular in the Philippines.
In the poorer regions, I'm afraid of making photos.
For the next trip: Plan more in advance and get up earlier, don't hesitate to try the local cuisine

Um mal eine kleine Übersicht herauszugeben: Der Zähler ist aktiv seit dem 27ten Januar 2009, wo auch die höchster Besucherzahl zu verzeichnen war (93 Seitenaufrufe, 40 Besucher). Im Durchschnitt besuchen 14 Personen diese Website, pro Tag, und generieren 37 Aufrufe. Ein Trip nach Macao...

A trip to Macau...

Am Anfang war es leider sehr Chaotisch, sprich viele hatten irgendwas vergessen, sei es der Reisepass, die Jacke oder das Frühstück, was natürlich alles noch erledigt werden musste, vor der Abfahrt. Ergo sind wir erst um ca 1400 angekommen, wobei die eigentliche Fahrt nur ca 230 gedauert hat... Wir hatten uns um 1000 getroffen

First, there was chaos, i.e. a lot of people forgot sth, their passport, their jacket or their breakfast, which all had to be done, before we left. Finally, we arrived at around 2pm, while the travelling took around 2,5 hrs... We met at 10am...

Da wir nach dem kurzen Frühstück und der laaangen Reise alle wieder hungrig waren, sind wir erstmal was essen gegangen. Es gab Suppe

The breakfast was short, the journey long, so we all were hungry, some more, some less, and had Lunch in Macau. We had a soup

In Macao ist Glücksspiel erlaubt und für 50% der Staatseinnahmen verantwortlich...

Also haben wir uns auch mal ein Kasino von innen angeguckt... Leider durfte man keine Fotos machen (Stichwort Miss Taiwan und Miss Hong Kong ;) )

Danach sind wir auf den Peak gefahren, ein "hoher" Berg auf Hong Kong Island, mit einer klasse Aussicht (wird binnen 24h nachgereicht)

Afterwards, we drove to the Peak, a mountain located at Hong Kong Island, with a very good overview (will be uploaded within 24h)

Kaum ist man angekommen, ist schon die Hölle los :)
In China wird jedes Jahr der Beginn des neuen Mondjahres gefeiert. Dies fiel in diesem Fall "Zufällig" auf die Tage nach meiner Ankunft, darum musste ich da direkt mal hin.
Ich habe es mir ein wenig voller vorgestellt... Es waren ca 5/6 Reihen an Personen, die vor der Absperrung standen und sich das ganze angeguckt haben.
Begonnen hat das ganze um ca 8 Uhr, und ging ca 90 Minuten, nichts im Vergleich zum Karneval...

In China they celebrate the beginning of the new luna year. "Fortunately" this was on the days after my arrival, so I directly went out and took some pictures.
Actually, I expected it to be a bit more crowded... There were like 5 or 6 rows, standing close to the barrier and watched the parade.
The parade started at 8pm and lasts approx. 90 minutes, nothing compared to carnival...
